Winemakers Chardonnay wins Chamption Reserve Wine of the Show

Esk Valley Winemakers Chardonnay 2008 impressed the palates of wine judges at this year’s Hawkes Bay A&P Mercedes Benz Wine Awards, bringing home Champion Reserve Wine of the Show as well as a gold medal.

The Hawkes Bay Wine Awards is the most important event on the regional wine competition calendar and the number of entries continues to grow year on year. Judges were particularly impressed with the calibre of Syrah and Chardonnay in 2009.

As well as the top trophy, Esk Valley collected gold for its stunning Hawkes Bay Verdelho 2009 and silver medals for the Hawkes Bay Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Winemakers Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2007 and Hawkes Bay Chenin Blanc 2008
