Esk Valley, Marlborough

This wine is produced from selected Marlborough vineyards in both the Wairau and Awatere valleys. The warmer sites produce wine with a more tropical fruit aspect while the cooler sites offer citrus notes and acidity. The vines are grown on a VSP trellis and managed intensively with low yields.

The individual vineyard parcels are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed. The juice is settled bright and cool fermented utilising indigenous and selected yeast strains. Selected ferments are stopped to retain a small quantity of residual sugar to balance the crisp natural acidity in the finished wine. Post ferment, after time on lees the vineyard parcels are blended and bottled.

This dry style of Riesling is versatile and suited to a wide variety of foods. It has classic Marlborough Riesling characters of citrus, peach and honey and a long fresh finish. Enjoy chilled as an apéritif or a lunch wine.

Especially good with Thai or Asian-styled dishes.

Enjoy while youthful or cellar for at least three to five years for a more honeyed and complex style.
