Esk Valley Estate celebrates triple gold medal success in two weeks

After securing a gold medal for their 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at the Sommelier Wine Awards last week, Esk Valley Estate continues its run of success, with their 2010 Marlborough Pinot Noir winning gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards as well as the International Wine Challenge this week.

Gordon Russell, Esk Valley winemaker, is thrilled by the gold medal success: “For over two decades the name Esk Valley has been synonymous with Hawkes Bay Merlot but in 2008 the opportunity arose to make our first Pinot Noir from our Marlborough vineyards. Learning new skills associated with Pinot Noir has been a great experience and to receive two gold medals for our 2010 vintage is exciting for everyone involved.”

The results of the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge (IWC) were announced during the London International Wine Fair this week. The IWC Champion Trophy winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on 11 September 2012.
