Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc awarded gold at Concours Mondial du Sauvignon competition in Bordeaux

Esk Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011 has taken out a gold medal at the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon competition in Bordeaux.

Gordon Russell, Esk Valley winemaker, commented on the award: “I’m extremely pleased our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc won a gold medal at this varietal focused competition. This result reinforces the exceptional quality of our Esk Valley Estate wines and is a great marker for how our New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is stacking up against our international competitors.”

A total of 666 wines from over 20 countries entered the third Concours Mondial du Sauvignon competition which took place at the Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur growers’ organisation in Bordeaux in the middle of March. The contest aims to promote wines made from the varietal and to increase awareness of the comprehensive range of Sauvignon Blanc wines worldwide. The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles oversaw the technical organisation of the tastings to ensure independence of the judging.
